Does 2x2 in Antique Copper Mosaic's description refer to tile or square size?

The calculations say I would need 40 units for 40 sq ft but that would make the tile 12x12 not 2x2, just making sure I order enough!

Indeed, in reference to the product "Antique Copper 2 x 2 Beveled Mosaic 525-032sample", the 2 x 2 denotes the nominal size of each individual tile, not the overall size of the sheet it comes on. Just to confirm this is the sample where you only get a sample of the product.
